All Maltese dogs registered in Finland and owned by a Finnish member of Maltalaiset were allowed to participate in the Maltese Dog of the Year 2000 Competition if their results were sent before the deadline. Five best results from shows arranged in Finland were considered from the calendar year 2000. Aulikki Halla of kennel Halciinan at Imatra was nominated The Best Breeder (breeder class 13.2.2000).
